The display uses TFT technology with a resolution of 480X854 pixels and the colors are vivid with blue bring the dominant color. Above the 4” highly capacitive touch screen is an LED indicator that informs you of any incoming messages. The phone has an internal memory of 1 GB that can be expanded to 16 GB using micro SD cards. For connectivity, the phone supports both 2G and 3G, is Wi-Fi, and has Bluetooth 2.1. Web browsing is smooth with a powerful processor, and the zooming function makes it a really pleasing experience. Though it does not support flash, there is a fast YouTube browser.

The camera sports single camera of 8.1 MP with an LED flash. In addition to face detection, it also allows for face tagging.

It is with Arc that Sony has finally given up with their human curvature obsession and this smartphone is very thin, standing at just 8 mm in the center. It has a large 4.2” display and is indeed a large phone but is surprisingly lightweight weighing just 117 gm. However, the display technology is still a bit old with LED backlit screen at a resolution of 480X854 pixels. However, assistance of patented Sony Bravia Engine makes colors look stunning.

The smartphone runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3, and has a powerful 1 GHz Scorpion processor along with Adreno 205 GPU that makes processing of graphics very fast. The phone has an 8 MP camera that takes bright and sharp pictures courtesy the legendary Sony Cyber Shot technology.

The smartphone has a little internal memory of 320 MB that can however be expanded to 8GB with the help of micro SD cards. The phone uses Sony’s TimeScape UI that enables users to get connected to their FaceBook and Twitter accounts instantly. Arc has a built in FM radio with nice reception. Gaming freaks will be disappointed as there are no pre installed games but there are free downloads of games from Gameloft.
