Democracy vs Mobocracy

Democracy and Mobocracy are two terms that are to be understood differently when it comes to their concepts and methodology.

One of the main differences between democracy and mobocracy is that democracy is the rule by the people whereas mobocracy is the rule or a government by a mob. Democracy is a system of government by the whole population usually through elected representatives. In other words the people have the sole power and the right to elect their representatives in the democratic form of the government.

On the other hand mobocracy is the form of government wherein people do not have the power to elect their representatives since it a populace or a mob that reserves the right to form the government and rule the people.

One of the major differences between democracy and mobocracy is that the representatives elected by the people have the control over public affairs whereas in mobocracy the mob that has offered to form the government controls the public affairs by all means. The entire population does not have the power or the right to elect either the representatives or the mob.

A democratic form of government is a classless and a tolerant form of society. On the other hand a mobocratic form of government is not a classless and is not a tolerant form of society. The power is totally with the mob that rules over the public affairs. On the other hand the power is totally with the people that elect the representatives in the case of democracy.

Since democracy aims at a classless form of society equal rights are given to the public. On the other hand equal rights are not given to every member of the public in the case of mobocracy. The rights lay with the mob alone.
