What is Mycoderm?

Mycoderm is an antimicrobial medicine used for the treatment of bacterial and fungal skin infections. It is a combination ofbenzoic acid, salicylic acid, menthol, and starch. Benzoic acid prevents bacterial and fungal infections, while salicylic acid helps the body to shed rough, dead skin. Both of them are tropical medicine used to treat skin irritation and inflammation caused due to insect bites, fungal infections and eczema. This medicine works by changing the internal pH of microorganisms to an acidic state. This acidic state is incompatible with the growth and survival of microorganisms. Furthermore, mycoderm can be used to treat fungal infections such as tinea infection, ringworm and athlete’s foot on the skin.

Some rare side effects of this medicine are skin rash, redness of the skin, change in colour and texture of the skin, burning sensation of the skin, and skin peeling. This medicine is not recommended for people who have a known allergy to benzoic acid, salicylic acid, menthol, starch, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Normally, mycoderm should be applied on the skin twice daily under medical supervision. Currently, this medicine is available in pharmacies in the form of powder or cream.

What is Mycoderm C?

Mycoderm C is an antifungal medicine used for the treatment of fungal skin infections. It is normally used for the treatment of fungal infections on the skin such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other infections. It is also used to treat a skin condition called pityriasis. Pityriasis is the flaking or scaling of the skin. Mycoderm C has active ingredients such as clotrimazole, starch, and talc. This medicine destroys the fungal infection by allowing the holes to open in the fungal cell membrane. This triggers components in the fungal cell to leak out, killing the fungus and curing the infection.

The common side effects are burning, itching, redness, stinging, dryness on the skin in the place this medicine is applied. Sensitive allergic reactions include rashes, itching, swelling and hypotension. Mycoderm C should be applied to the affected area of the skin 2 to 3 times daily and rubbed gently with a cotton swab. Moreover, mycoderm C is available in pharmacies in the form of powder, cream, or ointment.
