Moreover, in this type of wave plate, the input polarization is parallel to the fast or slow axis. This results in no polarization of the other axis; thus, the output polarization is similar to the input. If the input polarization is about 45 degrees to the fast and slow axis, polarization tends to be equal at those axes.
