Tea vs Coffee

Since, if we do not comparewater, tea and coffee are the most popular beverages of the world, understanding the difference between tea and coffee becomes essential. There is often a race between the two, some people prefer tea as they do not like the taste of coffee, whereas some others prefer coffee because of its vitalizing effects. Tea is useful in certain disease whereas coffee has very limited positive effects on health.

Tea is a beverage made from the leaves and buds of a bush, named Camellia Sinensis . These dry leaves or buds are boiled in water to make tea; some people like to add milk too, according to their choice. Green tea and black tea are two types of tea; leaves are just the same, difference lies in fermentation, green leaves are not processed whereas for black tea leaves are fermented. Other forms are also used in different traditions and cultures. Tea has a long history and is associated with the cure of many diseases. Recent researches discover its usefulness in heart disease andcancers. Some ingredients in tea are also known for pain relief inarthritisand other inflammatory disorders.

Coffee is made from the roasted beans of the coffee plant, which has its origin in Africa. One-third population of the world likes this beverage for its refreshing effects.Caffeineis an ingredient, which is responsible for this invigorating effect. Espresso, Brewed, Instant, Decaf Brewed, Plunger and filter are few types of coffee, consumed all over the world. Caffeine is useful in asthmatic condition, as it relaxes the airways in lungs. Everyone has its own recipe to make a cup of coffee, some people like it with milk whereas some like black coffee. Coffee is also known to lessen the risk of Parkinson’s disease as it enhances the dopamine supply in the blood, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the brain. Caffeine in the coffee also acts as a stimulus, helping its users to stay awake late at night.

• Coffee and tea are different in flavor, preparations and taste.

• Both are evergreen plants; tea is extracted from the leaves and buds of tea plant and coffee beans are prepared from the coffee plant.

• Both plants have the ability to develop into a large tree, but height is maintained by trimming the shrubs.

• Coffee and tea, both contain caffeine, but the amount of caffeine is more in coffee in prepared form; in dry form tea has a larger caffeine content.

• Coffee is useful in Parkinson’s disease and asthma while tea is known for its good effects in cancer and heart diseases. Tea also reduces cholesterol level and blood clotting.

• Coffee has African origin whereas Tea is grown in tropical and sub-tropical climates.

Tea and coffee differ in taste and flavor, but coffee that has a larger amount of caffeine is popular among that class of workers who have to stay awake for long. They are extracted from different plants and grown in different regions. Tea and coffee are useful for some diseases and the amount of caffeine intake depends upon the serving size.
