Revision and Editing are two words that show minute differences between them when it comes to their meanings. However, before analyzing this minute difference between revision and editing first we should try to understand the two words. The verb edit is also used as a noun to refer to the change or result made by the act of editing. The word revision is used in the sense of ‘making changes in something when it comes to its usability to people or customers.’ It is important to know that revision is carried out in books, service conditions,rules and regulationsin the conduct of an event or the running of a company and the like. Unlike editing, the revision of a book is done with the intention of including the latest chapters or information that will be useful to the reader.

On the other hand, the word editing is used in the sense of ‘removal of unnecessary events or chapters or anything for that matter so that the usability factor is improved.’ This is the main difference between the two words, revision and editing. On the other hand, editing is carried out in books, films, movies, plays and the like. Editing of a film or a movie is done with the intention of removing unnecessary events and scenes from the film. It is done with the intention of providing a quality message or information to the audience who come to watch the movie. Editing of a film also aims at the perfection of any given scene in the film that can improve its depiction to the audience who would come to see it. In the same way as mentioned earlier, the editing of a book is aimed at the removal of unnecessary matter concerned with the subject matter so that the quality of the book is improved further. It aims at the removal of mistakes and such other things that were earlier carried out in the same book.
