Pumpkin vs Pumpkin Puree

Pumpkin is a vegetable that is a delight when it comes to baking as it is used in many recipes and dishes whether breads, cakes or even pies. When you go to a grocery store, you find canned pumpkin, but alongside this product there is also canned pumpkin puree making you confused and interested to know whether there is any difference between pumpkin and pumpkin puree and whether one can be substituted for the other. Let us find out in this article.

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is sold as solid pack pumpkin in cans, in grocery stores and is used by people to bake many different recipes. It is also available as pumpkin pie filling, which has many other additives. Pumpkin is a powerhouse of nutrients and whether you use it fresh or canned doesn’t make a difference to the nutritional contents of the recipe you are making.

Pumpkin Puree

Pumpkin puree is the flesh of the fresh pumpkin that has been mashed, cooked, and then drained to make the puree.

Pumpkin vs Pumpkin Puree

Though both canned pumpkin and pumpkin puree contain the same flesh of the same vegetable, the difference lies in extra water that is there in the case of puree of pumpkins.

You can easily use one in place of another while making a recipe that requires one of the two types of pumpkins, but not the pumpkin pie filling, which has many other additives.

You might require straining pumpkin puree for a few hours if you want the same flavor in your recipe.

Sometimes the difference between pumpkin puree and pumpkin is that of salt as puree is always without salt.

在一个呼吁泥的配方,一个女人was showing how to do a recipe for a cake-like treat showed that she could even cut the batter in the pan ahead of time so the treats would come out sliced, but I had used regular pumpkin in a can in the recipe and my batter was too sticky to cut the treats ahead of time and the batter stuck to the knife, so there is a difference.
