Candy vs Dessert

糖果和甜点两种食物eaten to satisfy one’s wants. Most commonly, they are made with ingredients with high contents of sugar making them be labeled as “sweets” in order to excite the mouth and taste of those who are eating them.

Candy

Sugar candies or simply candies are confectionaries that are generally made with sugar with added variety of colors and flavors. In the past, they are only made from sugar and are known to be very sweet but as the time passes by and the society improves, sour candies, gumdrops, chocolates and even salty candies are now made available. You can make candies just by melting sugar in plain water until it caramelized.

Dessert

Desserts are usually served right after a course of meal that is generally in sweet flavor. The history of desserts is very rich that it can be traced back during the civilization in the ancient times where the pharaohs and other wealthy individuals are using nuts or even other fruits that they have coated with honey. Current common desserts include but not limited to cakes, ice creams and pastries.

Difference between Candy and Dessert

Candies and desserts differ on the way that they are eaten or served. Candy can be eaten anytime and anywhere that you wanted to. Desserts, on the other hand, are most of the time eaten only after a certain meal. Candies, due to their high sugar content, are often the root cause of tooth decay especially in children; so as desserts such as cakes and ice creams that are being avoided by people who are suffering from diabetes. Candies also come in plastic or paper packaging whereas desserts are served as it is and ready to be consumed.

Since both candies and desserts have a great amount of sugar being used during their processing, always remember to minimize and control your consumptions. There are various sicknesses that are associated with high sugar in the blood and one of the most deadly of them is diabetes.

In brief:

• Candies can be consumed without place and time restrictions since they come in tiny or small packages while desserts are only best eaten after every meal.

• Candies are wrapped typically with plastics whereas desserts are served as they are.
