DSi XL uses a 1050mAH battery while DS Lite makes use of 1000mAH battery. The size of the stylus has also increased. While it is only 87.5 mm in DS Lite, the size of the pen in DSi XL is 120.3 mm, which is a boon for those having long fingers. While there are no cameras in DSi Lite, there are two in DSi XL.

While Nintendo DS Lite is GBA compatible, Nintendo DSi XL is not, which is frustrating for the gamers. There is no facility of music playback in DS Lite, while one can listen to stored music on DSi XL. While DS Lite is compact and handy, one needs to carry DSi XL in a bag which is a problem for game lovers.
