Men vs Women

Men and women, as gender subcultures, both belong to the general classification of Homo Sapiens specie. Though their anatomy and physiology greatly vary in the strictest sense, they are bound to share several general functions as belonging to the breed of higher intellectual sense.

Men have always been associated to a masculine appeal, of which being physically powerful, relatively brawny and figuratively tough is expected. They are made to take roles that are not isolated to the paternal orientation but whatever positions that would demand a great fraction of strength and endurance. Men, though not conclusively determined to be the domineering, are usually attached to authoritative functions in most structures involving family and society.

Women, because of their fragile nature, have persistently been viewed as the allegorically frailer sex. Though recent changes in roles and function have disproved the prior allegation, this gender group has been identified with activities that are less demanding in nature. Composure, modesty and elegance remain to be typical attributes that supposedly characterize women from men, though there is not such certainty to justify the claim in today’s time.

Over the years, dissimilarities between men and women were collectively defined yet distorted by contrasting chauvinistic influence in which men presupposed superiority over women. In the clearest sense of distinction, men generally are best with left-brain activities, reason why they are believed to have better problem-solving approaches and task-oriented perspectives. Conversely, women being of right-hemisphere influence are better in memory, communication and speech. As per psychological analogy, men deal with stress with a “flight-or-fight response” while women are for “tend-and-befriend” strategy. This signifies that when faced with pressure, men have a propensity to withdraw while women are likely to nurture and seek mutual defense.

Gender differentiation, though socially outlined, has not remained definite measures of distinction. It is a fact that differences exist, so is there really a point in determining which sex is better than the other?

In brief:

• Men generally are best with left-brain activities, reason why they are believed to have better problem-solving approaches and task-oriented perspectives; women being of right-hemisphere influence are better in memory, communication and speech

• Men deal with stress with a “flight-or-fight response” while women are for “tend-and-befriend” strategy
