Jeans vs Chinos

Can you make a comparison between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, two former heavyweight boxing champions? Or can you choose between Beethoven and Mozart? The same dilemma is felt by men across the world when they open up their wardrobe and have to choose between jeans and chinos, two summer favorites when it comes to apparels for lower body for men across the world. Both classify as trousers for men though jeans have carved a niche for themselves in casual wear to be treated in a class of their own. There are differences between jeans and chinos that will be highlighted in this article.

Jeans

牛仔裤是指一种裤子是由时间组成的twill fabric and is tight fitting. It is universally worn by both men and women and people of all ages across the world. Though today jeans are available in many colors, it is the blue color that has become the identity of jeans and is considered to be the original color of jeans. Introduced by Levi Strauss in 1873, jeans has become one trouser that has a universal appeal, and a wardrobe is considered incomplete without a pair of blue jeans inside.

The traditional 5 pocket jeans are seen in all cultures and countries with the trouser having a youthful image. Though there have been many changes in designs and colors down the years, the basic idea of reinforcing portions of stress with copper rivets remains the same even today. Jeans is worn by common people and celebrities alike, creating a kind of fever that is unseen for other apparels. An average individual has today seven pairs of jeans in his wardrobe making jeans the most common garment across North America.

Chinos

Chino is the name of the garment as well as the fabric that is used to make the garment. This cloth is made from twill fabric that is pure cotton and provides a lot of comfort to the wearer. This is why these trousers are worn during summers and spring. Chinos are also known as khakis in some places. This fabric was originally made to be used as uniform fabric for soldiers in armies of France and UK but caught the imagination of the people in the US and soon became so popular that leading readymade companies introduced their brands of chinos for both men as well as women. The word chino means roasted and is a reflection of the fact that chinos are mostly seen in brown or skin color though today one can find chinos in many other colors too.

What is the difference between Jeans and Chinos?

• Both jeans, as well as chinos, are made from twill fabric, but the twill used for jeans is heavier than that used for making chinos.

• Jeans is considered more casual wear than chinos that are worn at work place.

• Jeans is mostly blue in color, whereas chinos are khaki or skin colored.

• Jeans is available in many different fits, whereas chinos are available as comfortable trousers only.

• Jeans was introduced to the world as copper riveted garment by Levi Strauss, whereas chino was developed to make uniforms for soldiers in British and French armies.
