Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Tablet OS vs Blackberry Tablet OS QNX
Blackberry QNX and Android 3.0 Honeycomb both are Tablet operating systems in the current market. Basically Google bought Android and RIM bought QNX to serve the mobile market with best smart operating systems. Android is an open source operating system developed in Linux Kernel whereas QNX was operating system from QNX Software Systems and RIM bought it in 2010. At the moment Blackberry Tablet OS QNX supports only Blackberry Playbook but it has in it’s roadmap to release with Blackberry Smartphones with QNX very soon.
Since Android has been released for commercial mobile market and having Android Market apps more than 100,000 it will be most attracted by mobile lovers. And other major strength for Android is most of the Google products works well in Android like Gmail Client, Google Map and Google Talk.
Android 3.0 Honeycomb
Android 3.0 has specifically optimized many applications, like UI, Gmail, multiple tabbed web pages and many others for large screens and of course has added many new applications. The UI gives a total new look with redesigned widgets. With Honeycomb, the tablets do not need physical buttons; the soft buttons appear on the bottom of the screen regardless of which way you orient the device.
The new features include 3D transition, bookmark syncing, private browsing, pinned widgets – create your own widget for individuals in the contact list, video chat using Google Talk and auto-form fill. It has integrated the redesigned YouTube for 3D, tablet optimized eBooks, Google Map 5.0 with 3D interaction, wallpapers and many of the updated Android phone applications. The home screen can be customized and scrollable.
Blackberry QNX (QNX Neutrino RTOS) Operating System
最初的QNX是由QNX软件系统tems decades ago that is largely invisible but a marvel of tightly written code. It was used to run factory assembly lines, nuclear power stations monitoring systems, car entertainment consoles and CISCO routers.
Developer support is crucial in any operating systems. Apple store has more than 350,000 applications and Android Market has more than 100,000 applications whereas Blackberry only has 20,000 apps. But those Blackberry apps will not be compatible with new Blackberry QNX operating system without tweaks.
RIM started releasing application tools based on simpler mainstream technologies like Adobe Air, Flash and HTML5. Blackberry Tablet OS QNX SDK for adobe air allows developers to create rich and powerful application never like before.
At the same time Blackberry released WebWorks SDK for Tablet OS QNX to create applications based on web technologies such as Java,HTML5 and CSS.
Even though Blackberry QNX is at the moment for Playbook and Tablets , it will be released soon with smartphones as well.
