Difference Between Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Android Ice Cream

Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Ice cream are versions of Android. Android 2.3 was relased in December 2010. Though it was released in December, still there isn’t enough devices coming out with Gingerbread. Meantime, Andriod is developing another platform for mobile phones based on the experience of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb). The new version is tipped to be named as Ice cream or Icecream Sandwich, it is expected to touch the market by April 2011. The new Icecream version will be a combo of Gingerbread and Honeycomb.

Ice cream is expected to incorporate the revisions in 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 2.3.3 and add more features from Honeycomb. The features expected to be included are support for multicore processor architecture, new connectivity options such as support for MTP/PTP, support for rich multimedia and enhancement for enterprises.
