Android 2.3 and Android 2.3.3 are Android mobile operating system versions code named as Gingerbread. Android 2.3 is a major release which has many additional features compared to Android 2.2 (FroYo). It was released in December 2010. Some of the important features include Near Field Communication (NFC), support for SIP calls, support multiple cameras and a new user interface. Android is the first operating system to incorporate NFC feature. Android 2.3.3 is a small upgrade to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The difference between Android 2.3 and Android 2.3.3 is small, only there are few feature improvements and API upgrades for developers. The upgrades are mainly on NFC (Near Field Communication) and Bluetooth. NFC is a useful technology in M-commerce that is expected to replace many types of cards we carry for transactions and can be used in ticketing and many other applications as well. The new API level assigned to Android 2.3.3 is 10.
