Nook and Kindle are the electronic book readers from two of the largest online book stores. Going to library and getting a book issued is a thing of past now. In November 2009 Barnes and Noble Nook launched their electronic book reader whereas Amazon launched their latest version of portable ebook reader in August 2010.

Nook ebook is based on Android platform and Kindle ebook uses the platform developed by amazon.com. Nook is now available in color also and is operated by touch screen and connected to Nook store through AT& Ts free 3G network or can be connected through any Wi-Fi connection. Kindle can be connected through Amazons 3G network or any Wi-Fi connection for downloading the content.

Nook is specially designed for book readers whereas Kindle is more suitable for viewing newspapers, magazines and blogs. The content of Amazon to be used for Kindle is usually in AZW format, any content can be converted to this format by emailing it to Amazon. The content in Nook ebook is supported by Adobe and PDF.

The color screen of Nook reduces the reading time of the device to about one third of that of Kindle ebook reader. Kindle ebook reader can be used in over 100 countries at 3G speed but Nook can be used in U.S only. But color lovers will always opt for Nook and as the Barnes and Noble have been in the book business for a much more time than Amazon they know the intricacies of book writing and book display better.
