Motorola Droid 3 vs HTC Thunderbolt
Verizon seems to have raced ahead of other service providers with a variety of smartphones available on contract at very high speeds for consumers courtesy its blazing fast network. After the stupendous success of HTC Thunderbolt, it is the turn of another Droid to arrive and repeat the success story of its predecessors. Yes, I am talking about the latest Droid 3 which is slated for release in June 2011. Let us make a comparison between already established Thunderbolt and Droid 3 to see how this smartphone fares with a gadget that has already carved a niche for itself in the market.
Motorola Droid 3
Retaining the same form factor of the earlier Droid 2, Motorola seems to ride the crest by improving the processor quality and also increasing the size of display. Yes, it has the same sliding full QWERTY keypad that lures consumers who are fond of emailing.
Droid 3 has a huge 4 inch highly capacitive touch screen that produces a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo but will be upgraded to 2.4 Gingerbread. It has a powerful 1 GHz dual core TI OMP processor and 1 GB of RAM. It boasts of 16 GB of internal memory that is expandable up to 32 GB using micro SD cards. It is a single camera device (surprisingly) with a nice 8 MP camera that can record HD videos in 1080p at 30fps. Yes, it is HDMI capable allowing the user to watch HD videos shot with it instantly on TV.
HTC Thunderbolt
Thunderbolt is an astounding success for the company ever since it was launched in January 2011. It was the first 4G phone on Verizon platform though the company has got many more since then. Thunderbolt continues to appeal to consumers despite the fact that it is neither the lightest nor the most compact smartphone.
To begin, Thunderbolt has dimensions of 122 x 66 x 13mm and weighs 164g. It has a candy bar form factor and does not boast a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a highly capacitive touch screen that is 4.3 inches in size and produces a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels in 16 M colors. The screen utilizes Gorilla Glass display making it scratch resistant. It also has standard features like accelerometer, multi touch input method, proximity sensor and rides on legendary HTC Sense 2.0 UI.
Thunderbolt runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, has a nice 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and packs a solid 768 MB RAM. It provides 8 GB of onboard storage and preloaded with 32GB microSD card. It also allows the user to expand internal memory using SDXC cards up to 128 GB.
