Kindle Cloud Reader vs Kindle 3G

Kindle is a concept and design from Amazon replacing paper book for reading lovers. Kindle 3G is a wireless reading device with 3G or WiFi with PDF reader. It’s a small light weight device where you can load 3500 books from Amazon ebook depository. Amazon Kindle has around a month battery life without wireless on.

Now people started using Smartphone and Tablets on top of their laptops. So Amazon came up with the concept of Amazon Cloud Reader where you don’t need to buy Kindle from Amazon to read those books instead you can read from your iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry Tablets and Phones, Kindle, and PC or Mac with browsers Google Chrome, and Safari for MAC, as well as iOS. Amazon boost this as “buy one and read everywhere”, which means if you buy an ebook from Amazon and keep in kindle cloud, you can read from anywhere in the world, if you are connected to Internet.

Kindle Cloud Reader will synchronise with Kindle Library and keep tracking of last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights for all of your books irrespective of the device you are using. This Amazon Cloud Reader is optimised for iPad and will work in Safari browser. Even though currently Kindle Cloud Reader will be supported by Google Chrome, in near future it will be available via Internet Explorer, Firefox and Blackberry browsers. You can continue reading the books when you are offline too. Cloud reader means you can purchase a kindle book from Amazon stores and keep it in your cloud and read anytime, anywhere.

Basically, it’s a PDF document like ebook, but instead of providing the soft version of the book to you, it will be kept in the cloud so that you can access it anytime anywhere. Thus, you don’t need to buy a special hardware to read books from Kindle library.

Kindle 3G, as said earlier, is an e-reading device that features a 6 inches high contrast E ink Pearl screen which is at least 50% brighter with greater contrast ratio than the screen of earlier Kindle models. The screen resolution is 600X800 pixels. The dimensions of 3G stands at 7.5X4.8X0.335 inches, and weighs 8.7 ounces. Users can store around 3500 books at a go. Kindle 3G battery lasts for 10 days in wireless on mode and around a month in wireless off mode. Surfing is made simple on Kindle 3G; no settings are required and you are ready to surf, shop and download once out of the packing.

What is the difference between Kindle 3G and Kindle Cloud Reader?

(1) Kindle 3G is a physical device, whereas Kindle Cloud Reader is a web application, currently compatible with Chrome and Safari but in near future it will be supported by IE and Firefox.

(2) Kindle 3G only can store 3600 books, and Amazon Cloud Reader can store 950,000 books.
